How develop / design my website?

I have my own website, and would like to develop it so it's not just a blank page. I have no clue how to do this. All I really want is to create an on-line portfolio of my work as a metalsmith. I would like to post photos of each piece, whether a ring or earrings, and would like someone to be able to click on each piece to enlarge it for better viewing. Is there a straightforward way for an inexperienced person like myself to design my own page? Thanks!
